Below is the bio submitted by the 1st 2015 HLECC board candidate:
Hi, I am Kristi Herspold. Born on the East Coast and raised in Virginia at the mouth of Chesapeake Bay. I am a D.A.R, a lover of nature and a veteran of the United States Army. I spent time overseas and was a part of the campaign Operation Enduring Freedom. I was one of the first 10 females assigned my Squadron of Cav Scouts once females were allowed into the all male units. I separated from the military in Kansas, the summer of 2018, and headed to North Dakota for a pipeling job. While in ND, I met my love David, the project we were on ended, we returned to Baytown to start our lives together. I quickly realized that wasn't the place for me!! David being from St Croix, USVI, and me from the Appalachia mountiand in SW Pennsylvania, Smock, we knew that in not where we wanted to raise a family. The night we welcomed our little one, we prayed hard that he could move us from between the oil refineries. That night, our now home 'in the woods' was listed for sale, the next day we started the process to purchase. This is not to mention that the day before the + test I came to look at a home on Oakwood Ln. I fell in love with the charm of this neighborhood and knew this was where I had to be. After + test and visit, I never stopped Dreaming of HLE!!
That was God working! He knew we were meant to be here and why! He may have also mave placed the rose colored glasses on my eyes. I saw my little one jumping from a dock into the water, peddling for hours around all the lakes and a fish fry after a long day of fishing. I know that the visions I have for this neighborhood are only the beginning of uncovering this community's hidden beauty and potential. Together,we can strive for a more cohesive community. I can be your voice.
I proudly attend water aerobics and have helped with many fundraisers in a number of different ways. In the past year ,e have had several successful events, mostly for the pool and the dam. I am aware of other parts of our community that need a little love, together we can come up with ideas to improve the areas that are important to you too.

POSTED ON BEHALF OF THE ELECTION NOMINATING COMMITTEE:

SHARON JOHNSON

NOMINATING COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON

I have been asked to clarify the purpose for anyone wanting to run for the HLECC Board the reasoning to submit a brief bio and a brief statement as to why you would like to be a Board Member.

Think on this:  Not everyone in our subdivision knows who you are.  By submitting a brief bio and statement, it allows everyone to know a little bit about you and why they would vote for you.  Also, some only look at one or the other FB pages & some only look at the Website. I will post your bio & statement to both FB pages & to the Website to try & ensure all people see it.   Also, with your name being on the ballot, the probability of you getting more votes increases in lieu of just being a write-in.  Your bio & statement doesn’t have to be complicated & you won’t be turned down.

Again, if you would like to serve on the board, please submit your information to [email protected] by April 15th, and please text me at (936) 933-0792 to let me know you have sent it.  Some of my e-mails get sent to Spam & I don’t want to miss your information!

A reminder:  You must be a legal property owner (and appear on the Property Ownership Report provided by our bookkeeper) in order to run for the board.  Also, according to a relatively new State law, a husband & wife, nor anyone that co-habits together, can be on the board at the same time.
